Providence & coincidence

Providence & coincidence

Today I was reminded of the fact that the first computer I ever bought, a first generation iMac, was from Kapple’s Computers which used to occupy my building at Green Root Gallery. This fact was one of those examples that make me wonder if it’s just a coincidence or some sort of providence. Either way these things give me a rejuvenated sense of purpose and it keeps me hopeful about future discoveries.

I’ve been with GEAG (Gateway East Artists Guild) for several years now, and these forces guided me towards getting involved with them in the first place. I was active with an online art community called wetcanvas for a long time, but I needed some live human interaction after a while. I was surprised to find an Artists Guild so close to home after a quick online search. I threw myself into working with them any way I could. I quickly got the responsibility of doing the monthly newsletter and took the job seriously by doing all the work myself, from designing to printing to mailing. Because I had finally found “My People” I also volunteered to handle all the merchandise, from t-shirts to tote bags. I lugged around a huge suitcase to all the meetings and other events and handled all the inventory. Today I have a screen printer at the gallery and I hope to get back into the merchandising mode by making t-shirts and other items for the gallery. Things seem to come full circle for me and I couldn’t be happier and hopeful for good things yet to come!
